Cookies!! Tuesdays with Dorie finally got to make cookies this week! Woo! Thanks to Michelle of Bad Girl Baking for picking this fabulous recipe.
Okay, so the recipe calls for store bought granola. I am:
- Not a fan of store bought granola.
- Too cheap to buy granola.
- Too lazy to go to the store just for granola.
So I used regular ol’ fashioned oats. I can’t offer a comparision since I haven’t tried these cookies with granola, but the oats turned out GREAT. I also used a mix of dried blueberries, cranberries, and cherries since I’m not a fan of raisins. Oh, and I left out peanuts since we have a toddler who hasn’t been introduced to peanuts yet. Like I said, these were awesome. Even my husband, who is SO not a granola type, loved them. I made these a couple weeks ago and he’s already asked me to make them again!

I agree- finally, a cookie! Oats sound like they were a suitable sub, and easier and cheaper too.

Considering that store bought granola just adds a ton of sugar, you were two steps ahead of the rest of us!!

Yeah finally a cookie! Great sub with the oatmeal I did mine with the granola and hubby told me they were the best oatmeal cookies he ever had lol!

Looks great. I love the addition of dried blueberries. That rocks. Glad to know you can make it with straight oats.

Good deal on the oats! I also did that too since I didn’t have granola either but then I opted for my Kashi cereal. I’ll have to try the oats next time! Great job!

I like the oats idea as well! If you get a big clump of granola, it’s a really big surprise (and not in a good way!) Love the dried blueberries!
